The Foundation brings this multifaceted work to the public\u2019s attention through various activities. There are exhibitions of his visual work and there is support to artists and scientists whose work represents the Vroman spirit: enthusiastic, curious, exploratory and idiosyncratic.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-accent-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ec7bdc9bfc3ac97594ddee66c09ab88e\">&#8220;So, am I a realist<br>Or surrealist?<br>Silly thing, you\u2019ve got it wrong:<br>Vroman&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>from: ik ook<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-accent-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9e1c325090719891a0e15b0131d9a644\">Purpose<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The poet, scientist and artist Leo Vroman was a man of many talents, who made it clear that he wanted to help other talented people take on projects that combine visual arts, poetry and\/or science. The Foundation therefore has multiple goals:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The acquisition, care, management and conservation of the visual art, poetry, prose, and scientific work of Leo and Tineke Vroman;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>maintain accessibility and visibility of Leo and Tineke Vroman\u2019s diverse oeuvre;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The management and commercialisation of the rights to the intellectual property of Leo and Tineke Vroman, including any associated rights (in the widest sense of the word);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The instantiation of a \u201cVroman grant\u201d designed to financially support artistic projects that touch on at least two of these three areas: visual art, poetry and science, and are in the spirit of Leo and Tineke Vroman\u2019s own work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-accent-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-49f4c738927cd5d35c7aacb76a9d578c\">Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Foundation intends to reach this goal by:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Providing funding to support the above-mentioned goals;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Representing and receiving the author\u2019s intellectual property rights, rights to re-use and other related rights associated with Leo and Tineke Vroman\u2019s work, inasmuch as these rights are not legally owned by other parties;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All remaining means such as legacies, gifts, subsidies etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-contrast-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-b9a0cab23e1c246f734b136a73f70aa7\">The Foundation has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vromanfoundation.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Vroman-Foundation-ANBI-2.pdf\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.vromanfoundation.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Vroman-Foundation-ANBI-2.pdf\">Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI) status<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-accent-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e95e7cc1048296b0ce417c9285439ae5\" style=\"font-size:clamp(1.039rem, 1.039rem + ((1vw - 0.2rem) * 0.935), 1.6rem);\">&#8220;The sun makes flowers, warmth, green<br>the see makes quietude &#8211; what do we make?&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>from: De auto en zijn vrouw: The car and his wife<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-accent-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4c82bd5552648b6069eac26f826b0895\">Recent Activities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2022-2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/janvaneyck.nl\/participants\/maud-van-den-beuken\">Maud van den Beuken<\/a> was chosen as the new  Vroman Fellow (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.janvaneyck.nl\/calendar\/vroman-fellowship-2022\">Vroman-beurs<\/a>), in partnership with the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peace banner displayed on the Amsterdam Dam Square May 2022<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Work on the biography of Vroman, written by Atte Jongstra, continues<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2020-2021<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Refresh of the Vroman Foundation website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u2018Fellowship\u2019 (the Vroman grant) in partnership with the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhibitions including the Friends of Leo Vroman<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research at Libertum (formerly known as the Gouda Resistance Museum) into the design and development of an indoor journey in the Gouda Chocaladefabriek building inspired by Vroman\u2019s poem Vrede (Peace);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Research into the forthcoming Vroman biography with sponsorship, illustrations and research materials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaboration with the Green Alliance\/National Forestry Management organisations on art inspired by Vroman in the Goudse Hout outdoor recreation area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u2018Fellowship\u2019 (the Vroman grant) in partnership with the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhibition \u2018Warm, Red, Wet and Sweet \u2013 Leo Vroman\u2019s Blood\u2019 in collaboration with the Rotterdam Natural History Museum. Support through sponsorship, display objects, organisational staff, and promotion (opened in November 2018)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participant in Museum Night with the Rotterdam Natural History Museum.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CD presentation by Bart Hovenaars of Leo Vroman\u2019s poetry set to music;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support for development and in the unveiling the Vroman public bench in Utrecht.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For more projects see the Projects section in the navigation area<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-accent-3-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-346e75990a379588ccf141815763ad1f\">Renumeration Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Foundation is a not for profit and serves the general societal good. The board members are not compensated for their activities.
